ORTHOPEDIC
SPINE PROGRAM

The Manitoba Orthopaedic Spine Program is committed to advancing the science of spine care through three pillars of research — bringing laboratory discoveries to the clinic and improving the systems that deliver care.
CLINICAL RESEARCH
Our clinical research focuses on patient outcomes, surgical techniques, and evidence-based improvements to spine care delivery. We study the real-world effectiveness of orthopaedic spine interventions across diverse patient populations.
HEALTH SYSTEMS EFFICIENCY
We investigate how spine care can be delivered more effectively within the healthcare system — reducing wait times, improving care pathways, and optimizing resource use without compromising outcomes.
BIOMECHANICAL STUDIES
Our biomechanical research explores the mechanical properties of the spine, implant behaviour, and the physics of spinal stability — translating laboratory findings into better surgical decisions and implant design.
